John Elkington is a writer and thinker, a serial-entrepreneur and an ‘advisor from the future’. He is Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Volans, a change agency, that aims to stretch leaders – towards “Breakthrough”; that is, to look beyond incremental change towards systemic challenges.

John is leading a 2-year program in partnership with the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) focussing on the market opportunities around exponential sustainability, titled Project Breakthrough.

John is also Honorary Chairman of SustainAbility, and sits on an A-Z of some 30 boards and advisory boards. He has written 19 books, and his latest is co-authored with Jochen Zeitz, former CEO of PUMA and now co-chair, with Sir Richard Branson, of The B Team. The book, entitled "The Breakthrough Challenge: 10 Ways to Connect Today’s Profits with Tomorrow’s Bottom Line" comes full circle from John’s 1997 "Cannibals with Forks", where he first introduced the Triple Bottom Line concept.

Mr. Alex Mejia was appointed as Senior Manager of UNITAR’s Decentralized Cooperation Programme (DCP) in October 2012 after serving three years as Director of UNITAR’s Hiroshima Office in Japan and after working four years as the Director of UNITAR’s CIFAL training centre in Atlanta.

In his current capacity as DCP Senior Manager, he leads the CIFAL Global Network and is responsible for several other programmes within DCP, including the PHPO office in Nigeria, the ITCCO center in Belgium and the Human Mobility Programme managed out of New York.

In 2001, he became Vice Minister of Economy for the Republic of Ecuador. During this period, he also served as Alternate Governor to the International Monetary Fund, to the World Bank, to the Inter-American Development Bank, and as a member of the Board of Directors of Ecuador’s Central Bank. From 2003 until 2005 he worked in Washington, DC as the director of the Inter-American Council’s Andean Program, an entity chartered by the Organization of American States.

Best known for his “Rap Guide” series of plays and albums, Baba has toured the world and enjoyed successful runs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and off-Broadway in New York. His Rap Guide to Evolution (“Astonishing and brilliant” NY Times) was featured on US national TV on The Rachel Maddow Show and at the Seattle Science Festival opening for Stephen Hawking. In 2014 the show enjoyed a sold-out week at the Sydney Opera House.

Baba tours and performs regularly and has spoken at several TEDx conferences and performed at the World Science Festival. His latest work “Rap Guide to Climate Chaos” premiered in Edinburgh in 2015, followed by a six month off-Broadway run in 2016.
